The Ultimate Nutella Collection: A Swirled Skillet Cookie and 23 Must-Try Recipes

Ultimate Nutella Swirled Skillet Cookie: A Warm Pizookie Recipe & World Nutella Day Celebration!

Imagine the perfect end to a long day: a warm, gooey skillet cookie, generously swirled with rich Nutella, served fresh from the oven. Add a scoop of melting low-fat ice cream, and you have pure dessert bliss! This isn’t just any cookie; it’s a “pizookie” experience, just like your favorite restaurant treat. And what better way to celebrate its deliciousness than on World Nutella Day? We’ve also rounded up 23 more incredible Nutella recipes that will make your mouth water!

We all have those days, right? The ones where everything seems to go wrong, and all you crave is a little comfort. For many, dessert is the ultimate pick-me-up. While I’ll admit I’m not usually the biggest fan of traditional cookies – I’d often choose a rich brownie or a slice of decadent cake over a dozen standard cookies – a skillet cookie is an entirely different story. Especially when it comes with a luscious Nutella swirl baked right in. That, my friends, is a game-changer! The combination of a warm, soft cookie and the irresistible hazelnut-chocolate spread truly transforms the experience into something extraordinary.

The inspiration for this delightful dessert hit me when my oldest son turned 14 last November. Like me, he’s not a huge cake enthusiast. When asked what he wanted instead of a traditional birthday cake, his request was simple yet brilliant: “pizookies.” If you’ve never had a pizookie at a restaurant, you’re missing out! It’s essentially a giant cookie baked and served warm in a skillet, often topped with ice cream. I had never made one from scratch before, so I embarked on a mission. A quick trip to the store to grab some trusty cast iron skillets, and I was ready to bring the pizookie magic home.

And let me tell you, I’m so glad I did! Investing in a few super cute 8-inch cast iron skillets turned out to be one of the best kitchen decisions. They’re incredibly versatile, perfect for making individual desserts, savory dips, or impressive appetizers. But their true calling, in my opinion, is for baking these glorious skillet cookies. For this recipe, I adapted one of my favorite lower-cholesterol cookie recipes, inspired by Mrs. Fields, and then added the star ingredient: generous swirls of Nutella on top. As it baked, watching that cookie puff up and the Nutella melt into delicious pockets was pure joy.

The final touch? A couple of scoops of light ice cream or frozen yogurt placed directly on top of the fresh-from-the-oven skillet cookie. The warmth of the cookie gently melts the cold topping, creating a divine, creamy cascade over the rich Nutella. It’s a moment of pure culinary heaven, a symphony of warm and cold, soft and gooey textures that simply can’t be beaten. While you could technically use Homemade Nutella or even swap Nutella for chocolate chips, I truly believe Nutella is where the magic happens. It’s incredibly flavorful and adds that distinct hazelnut-chocolate richness that elevates this skillet cookie to a whole new level. Why would you ever skip the Nutella?

Speaking of Nutella, did you know it’s **World Nutella Day**? That’s right! A global celebration of everyone’s favorite hazelnut spread. So, don’t be surprised if you see a surge of Nutella-infused delights everywhere you look today. In my household, Nutella is practically a pantry staple. I always make sure to have one of those massive containers from Costco on hand because my boys absolutely adore it! We love dipping apple slices in a combination of peanut butter and Nutella – it’s the perfect after-school snack, full of flavor and a little bit of fun. But honestly, my latest and greatest obsession (and I’m sure it will soon be yours, too!) is swirling that irresistible spread into a warm, fluffy skillet cookie. It’s an indulgence that’s hard to resist and surprisingly easy to make.

Just look at that image above! That warm, ooey-gooey cookie, the rich Nutella swirls, and the perfectly melting ice cream creating a creamy river over every bite. It’s an absolutely heavenly combination that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I honestly can’t get enough of this Nutella Swirled Skillet Cookie and am already planning my next one. This recipe is not just a dessert; it’s an experience, a moment of pure, unadulterated comfort and joy. It’s perfect for sharing with loved ones, but equally delightful if you decide to indulge in the entire thing yourself – no judgment here!
